Importing activity from a post in Timeline

Importing engagement activities from people who have engaged with your posts on Facebook can give you a more rounded, 360 view of who they are and the things they care about.

If the user is already inside your account this addition activity data will be added to their profile. If not, a profile will be started for them and all future activities will be added to this.

While this activity data does not include an email address, it does allow you to see which types of posts they enjoy. Maybe you’re an animal rescue organization and you notice certain individuals only engage with posts about raccoons, while another group only engages with baby bird posts.

As these patterns emerge you’ll begin to get a sense of what things they’re interested in and most likely to take action on, on your behalf.

All imported activity data will appear inside the People tab.

Getting started:

To get started navigate to your Timeline tab inside of ActionSprout and select a post you’d like to import the activity data from:

In the right hand menu open the second People tab:

There you’ll see the option to import engagement data from the post in question:

This button may appear in a few different states:

Never imported

In the example above we see that this post has never had data imported from it (either by you are a teammate)

Last imported

If a post has already had engagement data imported from it, it will display the date of the last import:

Refreshing the import will pull in any activity between the time it was last imported and now.

This option will also appear on posts containing actions. Action posts automatically import activity data. If you’re missing any data from an action post clicking the refresh button should fix that.

Import in progress

The last state is import in progress. This indicates that our systems are currently still processing your last import for this post.

If a post has a lot of engagement associated with it the import could take anywhere from just a few minutes to a few hours for the import to finish.

These different states of import are also reflected on the post card in Timeline:

Simply hover over the new people icon in the lower left corner of the card to view the import status of that post. Clicking on this icon will also take you to the import menu outlined above.

The Gold plan includes the ability to turn on automatic imports

If you are a Gold plan member you will also have the option to turn on automatic imports for all actions. These auto-imports will happen in real time. To turn this feature on, simply click the Configure Auto-Importing button at the top of Timeline:
