Under the Posts section of your ActionSprout account, you’ll find a not-so-secret weapon to quickly boosting any of your Facebook posts: Facebook ads! They do work, and you don't need to be an advertising genius to use them. With our tool, anyone can boost a post and get results.
To get started, log into ActionSprout and select the Facebook Page you'd like to work with on the Accounts screen.
Next, open Posts in the left hand menu, and make sure Published is selected. Then simple click the Promote button on any piece of content that you’d like to boost:
This will open the Promote Post menu, where you'll choose the Facebook ad account you’d like to use. You can choose Quick Promote, create a New Campaign, or use an Existing Campaign to promote the post:
We'll walk through how to create a New Campaign in this guide.
Creating a New Campaign
The first step is to choose who do you want to reach?
The audiences you'll find in the drop down menu are based on the Topics you follow under Stories. Choose as many that apply:
Next up, Where do they live? Which locations would you like to see your ad? This section may be pre-populated based on your location. You can also search for different locations:
Now choose How long do you want to reach them. In other words, how long do you want your ad to run? You'll also choose your Campaign Objective here. You can choose link clicks, but we suggest leaving it on Engagement.
Lastly, you'll choose your Max amount to spend. This is your budget for the ad.
Then just choose if the ad is a post about a social issue, politics or elections. If you work on important issues, chances are you fall into this category. Facebook has a pretty broad definition.
You'll see the option to run the ad on Instagram as well. If your organization has an Instagram presence, this might be a good idea for you.
All that's left to do is click that green Place ad button at the bottom of the menu. Your promoted post then goes into review, soon to be approved or rejected by Facebook’s ad policies.
Assuming it's approved, Facebook will then promote your post based on the ad settings you set up. That's it! Sit back and enjoy the results.
Note: If you want to revisit your boosted posts for any reason, you can find them as ads inside your Facebook ads account. Inside of ActionSprout under Posts then Promoted. Or inside of ActionSprout under Ads in the left hand menu.
After scheduling a post
Anytime you schedule a post, from anywhere inside of ActionSprout, the confirmation screen will ask if you'd also like to promote this content. To do so, simply click the Promote this post button.
This will open the standard Promote Post menu as see above.
After creating a new post
You can create a brand new Facebook post at the top of your Posts screen. Just click the Create post button in the upper right hand corner:
Once you're finished, and have scheduled the new post, you will once again be asked whether you would like to promote this post or not. Clicking Promote this post will open the same, standard promotion screen as above.
Your cause is too important to leave to chance. With the power of custom audiences and ActionSprout's ad tools, you are sure to reach more of the right people with your message.
