Anyone who engages with your content on Facebook has the potential to appreciate the content you're distributing through MailChimp, too. So how do you get that contact info from here to there? With ActionSprout, of course!

Step 1: Grab your MailChimp API key

To get your API key from MailChimp, log into your MailChimp account and then go to Click the Generate Key button.

The next screen will ask you to fill out some basic information for your new key. Once done, click Create Key at the bottom.

Then your new key is made.

Step 2: Log into ActionSprout

Log into your ActionSprout account and select the Facebook Page you'd like to work with from the Accounts screen.

Once inside your account, open Account Settings at the bottom of the left hand menu. Select Integrations.

Scroll through the list of avialable integrations until you see MailChimp. Then paste in your MailChimp API key (which you should have from Step 1) and click Connect.

Now your ActionSprout account is connected to your MailChimp account! But we're not quite done yet...

Step 3: Sync actions

Then for each Facebook action you create in ActionSprout, you'll need to choose which MailChimp list that you'd like to add your responders to. That way, when anyone responds to an action, their basic contact info (first name, last name, and email) can automatically go straight into your MailChimp account.

Here's how you do it.

Open the Social Actions section of your ActionSprout account and click the Edit button for the action you'd like to sync to MailChimp.

Inside the Action Editing screen, click the Integrations tab at the top.

Scroll to find MailChimp and then use the dropdown menu to select the list you'd like to connect to.

IMPORTANT: Make sure email is the only field marked as required for any MailChimp list you'd like to send ActionSprout data to. If more than email is required, the integration will fail, and no data will be received.

When automatically sending data to a Mailchimp list, Mailchimp can require more fields than just email. The problem is ActionSprout may not always have more info than just an email address. So if any more fields than the email address are required by MailChimp then the whole process of sending data from ActionSprout to MailChimp will not complete because MailChimp will require something that ActionSprout cannot always guarantee.
