Setting up your ActionSprout account to do great things for your Facebook page won’t take long! ActionSprout just needs your authorization to access data from Facebook.

We ask for permissions when you first sign up, as well as, the first time you perform certain tasks, like scheduling a post or viewing metrics.

Quite simply, we need these permissions because ActionSprout is a Facebook page app, and without your permissions, our app wouldn’t work.

In other words, without approving these permissions, you will not be able to use ActionSprout.

And that's a good thing! Facebook is ensuring your page remains secure by making sure that you and your team only let in trusted apps and tools. It's also the way we confirm who you are and what pages you have permission to manage.

First, sign-in to ActionSprout using your own Facebook profile/account. Signing in with your Facebook profile does a couple things:

  1. It confirms for Facebook that you want to use ActionSprout as a trusted app.

  2. It lets us find and show you the Facebook pages you administer and can use ActionSprout on.

After you do this, Facebook will ask you to give us permission to publish to and manage your page.

The ActionSprout app is not managing your page for you or posting on your behalf. Instead this permission gives you the right to manage your own page with the ActionSprout tool.

Keep in mind that Facebook decides how these permissions are named, and the way they’re named doesn’t always do a great job of explaining why ActionSprout needs them or how we use them to serve you.

We know. It's misleading. We can't control the naming of Facebook's permissions, however, we can explain them... thus the reason for this article!

ActionSprout does not use any of your personal information or Facebook permissions. Nor are they shared with anyone else. They are just for you and your team to take full advantage of all the tools and features that ActionSprout makes available to you.

You can learn more about how to manage your permissions through ActionSprout at any time.

Note: revoking any permissions will mean parts of your app will stop working.
